C13 Software LLC believes privacy notices should describe what a business actually does. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information when you visit c13.io, use a C13 product covered here, or communicate with us.
No accounts. This website does not offer user registration.
No ad tracking. We do not use advertising or cross-site behavioral tracking technologies on this website.
No data sales. We do not sell personal information.
Direct contact. Email and telephone links let you contact us using your own communications provider.
1. Scope and who we are
This policy applies to the C13 Software LLC website at c13.io, the Label-O-Scope iOS app, communications initiated through the contact information on this site, and related business-development interactions. In this policy, “C13,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to C13 Software LLC.
This policy does not govern a client’s products, websites, or systems that we may help build; a third party’s privacy practices; or another C13 product or service that provides a separate privacy notice.
App-specific notice
Label-O-Scope privacy notice
This section applies specifically to Label-O-Scope for iOS and is the privacy notice for its App Store listing. If this section conflicts with a more general statement elsewhere in this policy, this section controls for Label-O-Scope.
What Label-O-Scope does
Label-O-Scope compares recognized ingredient text with your personal Avoid List. Depending on the scan and detected matches, it displays NO MATCHES, AVOID, TAKE ANOTHER LOOK, or POSSIBLE AVOID. These results describe matches to your list; they do not mean that a food is safe, allergen-free, accurately labeled, or suitable for you.
Camera use and on-device processing
Label-O-Scope requests camera access only so you can scan an ingredient label. Camera capture and text recognition using Apple Vision run on your device. Ingredient parsing and Avoid List matching use deterministic app logic. Images used for a scan are not retained by the app after processing and are not transmitted to C13.
Text recognition relies on Apple’s on-device machine learning and may misread or omit ingredients. Image quality, lighting, label shape, print size, damage, or other conditions can affect a scan. Because the app can compare only the text it recognizes, a scan result may be incomplete or inaccurate. Use your own judgment to decide whether to rescan or disregard any result. If you are concerned about an ingredient, always read the original label yourself or contact the food manufacturer for more information.
Optional Smart Suggestions use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models to suggest Alternative Names while you create or edit an Avoid List entry. You choose which suggestions to save. Apple Intelligence is not used to capture labels, recognize text, parse scanned ingredients, or decide a scan result. C13 does not receive these prompts or responses.
Information stored by the app
When you intentionally save a food, Label-O-Scope stores its name, recognized ingredient text, parsed ingredient details, optional barcode, and dates used to display and update that saved food. The app also stores your Avoid List entries and saved Alternative Names.
If you do not save a food, its ingredient text, barcode, and individual result are not written to persistent scan history. While the current result is displayed, its text and result remain temporarily in app memory. Starting or resetting another scan clears that state, and it does not survive termination of the app.
Each completed check updates counter-only statistics, such as the total number of checks and totals for NO MATCHES, AVOID, and needs-review results. These aggregate scan counters do not contain ingredient text, barcodes, product information, scan dates, or individual scan records.
Counter records use a randomly generated device identifier solely to prevent one device’s counters from overwriting another device’s counters during private iCloud synchronization. It is not a C13 account identifier and is not visible to C13. Label-O-Scope does not require a C13 account.
If iCloud is available and enabled for Label-O-Scope, this data may sync between your devices through your private Apple iCloud or CloudKit database. Private CloudKit data belongs to the user and is not visible to C13 through Apple’s developer tools. Apple processes iCloud data under its own terms and privacy practices.
What C13 does not collect
C13 does not receive label text, saved foods, Avoid List entries, Alternative Names, aggregate scan counters, camera images, or Smart Suggestion prompts and responses. Label-O-Scope does not include advertising, analytics, tracking technologies, or non-Apple third-party SDKs. C13 does not sell or use this app data for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
Sharing
Label-O-Scope shares content only when you choose the content and activate Apple’s share sheet. You select the destination. After you share, the receiving person, app, or service handles that content under its own privacy practices.
Retention and deletion
Saved items and aggregate scan counters remain until you delete them. An unsaved scan remains only in app memory until you start or reset another scan or close the app. You control deletion as follows:
- Foods and Avoid List entries: use the delete control for the applicable food or Avoid List entry in Label-O-Scope. Deleting an entry also removes the aliases saved with that entry.
- Unsaved scans: reset or start another scan, or close the app, to clear a currently displayed result. The app does not write a new individual scan-history record.
- All app data: Delete All App Data removes saved foods, Avoid List entries, saved Alternative Names, aggregate scan counters, and legacy persisted scan records from the app’s data store. When private iCloud sync is available, those deletions sync to your other devices.
- iCloud data: you may also review and delete third-party app data in iOS Settings under your Apple Account, iCloud, and Storage or Manage Account Storage. Apple may change the exact menu labels between iOS versions.
Because C13 cannot access your private CloudKit database, we cannot directly view, export, or delete its contents for you. If you need help locating a deletion control, contact us using the information below.
Apple services and purchase information
Apple operates the App Store, processes the app purchase, and provides iCloud and Apple Intelligence system services. C13 does not receive your payment-card details. Apple’s handling of data for those services is governed by Apple’s privacy notices and your Apple Account settings.
Important product limitation
Label-O-Scope is a personal ingredient-screening aid. It is not medical, allergy, nutrition, or food-safety advice, and it does not guarantee that a product is safe or accurately labeled. Do not rely on the app to prevent an allergic reaction or make a medical decision. Consult a qualified professional when health or safety is involved.

Questions about Label-O-Scope privacy may be sent to contact@c13.io. We will post changes at this URL and revise the effective date above. When required, we will also provide notice in the app or through the applicable App Store update information.
2. Personal information we collect
This section describes information associated with the website and our business communications. Label-O-Scope’s app-specific data practices are described in the section above.
Information you provide
If you email, telephone, mail, contract with, or otherwise communicate with us, we may receive the information you choose to provide. This may include your name, email address, telephone number, company, job title, project requirements, message contents, and records relating to an inquiry or business relationship.
This site does not contain an on-site contact form, account registration, checkout, or payment collection. Please do not send Social Security numbers, financial-account credentials, health information, or other sensitive information unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure channel.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the site, our hosting, content-delivery, and security providers may automatically process limited technical information needed to deliver and protect it. This may include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages or files requested, access time, and diagnostic, performance, or security events.
Information from other sources
In ordinary business development, we may receive professional contact information from the organization you represent, referrals, public business directories, professional networks, or service providers. We may combine that information with information you provide directly when reasonably necessary to respond to an inquiry or manage a business relationship.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- Operate, deliver, maintain, and secure this website;
- Respond to questions, project inquiries, and privacy requests;
- Evaluate opportunities and prepare proposals, estimates, or agreements;
- Provide software development, contracting, and consulting services;
- Manage client and vendor relationships, invoicing, accounting, and business records;
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, security incidents, and unlawful activity;
- Establish, exercise, or defend legal claims and comply with legal obligations; and
- Complete a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale involving all or part of our business, subject to appropriate safeguards.
We seek to collect and use information only when reasonably necessary and proportionate for these purposes or another compatible purpose disclosed to you.
5. When we disclose personal information
We may disclose personal information to the following recipients:
- Service providers and contractors that support hosting, content delivery, security, communications, document storage, accounting, or other business operations, subject to appropriate restrictions;
- Professional advisers, such as attorneys, accountants, auditors, insurers, and financial advisers;
- Government authorities or other parties when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, protect rights or safety, investigate wrongdoing, or enforce an agreement;
- Transaction participants in connection with a proposed or completed merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of business assets; and
- Other recipients at your direction or with your consent.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, use it for targeted advertising, or use it to make decisions based solely on profiling that produce legal or similarly significant effects.
6. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including providing requested services, maintaining business and financial records, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, protecting security, and satisfying legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of information, the sensitivity and risk of keeping it, the nature of our relationship, and applicable limitation and recordkeeping periods. The California table below provides more specific criteria for the categories this website may process.
7. Information security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. Those safeguards are proportionate to the nature of the information we maintain. No transmission or storage system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on where you live and whether an applicable state law covers C13 or the relevant processing, you may have the right to:
- Confirm whether we process your personal information and access it;
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information;
- Request deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
- Receive a portable copy of certain information you provided;
- Opt out of the sale of personal information, targeted advertising, or certain profiling;
- Limit certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information;
- Use an authorized agent where permitted by law;
- Appeal our decision on a privacy request; and
- Exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.

We will use information you provide only to verify and respond to the request. We may ask for additional information reasonably necessary to verify your identity or authority.
If we deny a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with the subject “Privacy Request Appeal.” We will respond within the period required by applicable law and explain how you may contact your state attorney general when required.
Because we do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising, there is no separate opt-out form on this site. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required opt-out method before beginning that processing.
9. Supplemental notice for California residents
This section describes the categories of personal information we may have collected in the preceding 12 months through this website or related communications. The terms “personal information,” “sell,” and “share” have the meanings given by the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA”). These disclosures do not concede that C13 is currently subject to the CCPA in every context.

- We have not sold or shared personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising in the preceding 12 months.

- We do not offer financial incentives or price or service differences in exchange for personal information.
- California residents may exercise the rights described in Section 8, subject to the CCPA’s scope, verification requirements, and exceptions.
10. Children’s privacy
This website and our business-development services are intended for a general business audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.
11. Third-party services and links
This site may link to third-party websites or launch your email or telephone application. Those third parties control their own services and privacy practices. We encourage you to review their notices. Linking to another service does not mean C13 endorses its privacy or security practices.
12. Processing in the United States
C13 is based in the United States. If you access the site from another country, information may be processed and stored in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from those in your location. This policy is primarily designed for U.S. visitors and does not purport to describe every right available outside the United States.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy here and revise the “last updated” date. If a change materially affects how we use information already collected, we will provide additional notice when required by law.
